Find your ancestors in The Scottish Australasian 1915

First published in December 1909, the journal wanted "to help the young folk of Scottish parentage to better understand the history, literature and songs of the land of their forefathers". The journals have articles on a wide range of topics relating to Scotland – articles on well known Scots in Australasia, Scottish Songstresses, Scottish heroes of the war, ships of long ago, obituaries, the clans, and much more.

THE SCOT WE KNOW.
MISS BESSIE FRASER.
No performer on the Scottish concert stage in Australia has achieved a greater and more deserved popularity than Miss Bessie Fraser, and it is but fitting that to her should be paid the compliment of being the first lady to grace the pages of the "Scottish Australasian" as "The Scot We Know". In every sense of the term she fulfils the essentials necessary to take her place among the best known Scots in our community. To her, perhaps, more than anyone else of recent years, are we indebted for the preservation of Scottish song. Her position has been won by a charming personality, added to an unusual ability for the interpretation of the sentiment of the songs of Scotland.
