Find your ancestors in Slater's Royal National Commercial Directory of Ireland 1881

This is the fourth edition of Slaters, for the year 1881, and contains 1,580 pages of information including a large-scale map of Ireland. There are 181,917 names, being principal residents, gentry, tradesmen, medium and large farmers, office holders, professionals, clergy and other officials.

Organised by Province, and then town, it lists the residents and the institutions like hotels, schools, hospitals, churches, and even pubs for each town in Ireland. The book is organised into four sections, by province, with additional details for the four main cities (Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Belfast).

All personal and place names in these publications are searchable. Search results give an individuals name and the town or postal district they were recorded for. This is linked to a scan of the original page of the publication that usually contains more precise address information and occupations.

Search tip: places are grouped together into districts named after the main town. When searching this data users should be aware of this, and always look at the image to see the specific address of the individual.
