QUEENSLAND - LAND RECORDS 1856 - 1859

This index is a supplement to the land records indexed in the Queensland Early Pioneers Index 1824-1849 and includes the remaining non-indexed records relating to titles, covering the period 1856-1859. They're a valuable genealogy tool, and for anyone exploring their family history and building their family tree.

The records cover the a, A, b, B, D and F series of Title Deeds held by the Lands Transaction Office (Titles Office), Brisbane and consist of Town and Land purchases: a, a1-5, A1-5, b1-5, B1-5, D7, F1.

Details on the index include:
  • Surname
  • Given names
  • Date of purchase
  • Name of Parish where land was purchased
  • Land description i.e. Allotment, Portion Number and the reference to locating the record on the Department of Natural Resources Titles database

Copies of the deeds can be obtained from the Lands Transaction Office by quoting this reference number. 

On the deed (but not included in the index) you will find the following details: name of county, location within parish, area of land purchased, place of residence of purchaser, amount paid and full description of the land purchased.
