Can I subscribe to Findmypast on the app?

Currently available on iOS devices, Findmypast in-app subscriptions offer a quick and easy way to access records and make the most of family tree hints. Subscriptions purchased in-app are managed via Apple's App Store.

Purchasing a subscription in-app is easy:

  1. Open the Findmypast app and sign in
  2. Tap your profile in the top-right corner to access the settings
  3. Select ‘start a subscription today’
  4. You’ll be shown our subscription options. Make your choice, select ‘Subscribe' and then ‘Purchase’
  5. You’ll see confirmation that you’re now an Apple subscriber and details of your chosen membership

Upgrading your subscription in-app

To upgrade your Apple subscription:

  1. Access your settings as outlined above
  2. Select ‘Upgrade’
  3. You’ll be shown the available subscription upgrade options. Make your choice and select ‘Subscribe’ and then ‘Purchase’
  4. You’ll see confirmation of your new membership

You can also subscribe or upgrade when trying to access records in-app. If you don’t have access to the record you are trying to view, you’ll be prompted to subscribe or upgrade and can follow the steps outlined above.

Managing and cancelling your subscription in-app

To manage or cancel your Apple subscription:

  1. Access your settings as outlined above
  2. Select ‘View my subscription’ and then ‘Make changes to your subscription’
  3. This opens the Apple settings on your mobile device where you can cancel or switch your subscription

You can also subscribe or upgrade on our website. If you have subscribed or upgraded on the Findmypast website, you can only make changes to your membership via My subscription on the site, not in-app. Likewise, if you have purchased an Apple subscription, changes can only be made in-app, not on the website.

Due to Apple’s pricing models, the price of subscriptions in-app may differ slightly from those on the Findmypast website.
