Rugby Family History Group
Rugby Family History Group was formed by local enthusiasts in 1984 based on the town of Rugby, Warwickshire, and membership stands at approximately 100.
The aim of the group is to encourage and aid the study of family history that extends to conducting research relating to Rugby and surrounding areas for members resident in and outside the district.
The group meets every two weeks either at the Percival Guildhouse or Betts Hall, both in Rugby. A comprehensive programme is arranged each year, which includes a varied range of talks. Additionally family history classes are held twice per week in the Percival Guildhouse during autumn and winter terms, and occasional day schools. Group visits to The National Archives, London Metropolitan Archives etc are regularly arranged, and social occasions and regular computer and project evenings held. Currently, parish registers are being transcribed. The Group also runs a monthly help desk in Rugby Library.
The journal “Kith & Kin” is distributed 3 times per year, which provides items of local interest, general genealogical information, events and activities of the society, and there is an opportunity to have personal family history interests published annually. Similar information can be found on the website, including details of local publications of parish records ( mainly on CDs), current projects, research services, and facilities to join.
Rugby Family History Group is a registered charity (no 1101192) and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.
