Family Roots (Eastbourne & District FHS)

Findmypast is happy to work with the Eastbourne and District Family History Society. Family Roots was formed in July 1986 with the adoption of our constitution.

Family Roots is for all those who want to trace their family, whether living locally, in any other part of the UK, or even the wider world.

Our aim is to promote and encourage the public study of family history and genealogy with particular reference to persons living in or associated with the Eastbourne area and the preservation, security and accessibility of archival material.

We have produced booklets on many subjects. Some titles are also available on CD. A full list is to be seen on our website.

The society is very active with membership consistently being in excess of 250 and our monthly meetings regularly attract over 75 members.

We offer members, a quarterly magazine, a comprehensive library, a well stocked bookstall, monthly speakers and involvement in current projects.

We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month (Except July) at Ocklynge Junior School, Victoria Drive. BN20 8XN (entrance in Farlaine Road), Old Town, Eastbourne.

At these meetings, we have a help desk where you can seek advice on your research problems also a members’ library which holds various reference books for loan and a book stall where you can buy genealogy related books, fiches and compact disks.
