Peterborough & District Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with Peterborough & District Family History Society.

The Peterborough & District Family History Society was formed in 1980 by a group of individuals interested in researching their own ancestors. We were the first FHS that did not cover a full county.

For FHS purposes Peterborough is in the northeast corner of Northamptonshire. Within a radius of 10 miles of the city centre, there are 5 different counties: Northamptonshire, Rutland, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, and Huntingdonshire. For details of the area covered by Peterborough FHS please visit our website.

The society meets monthly, the programme aiming to strike a balance between Peterborough-focused talks, more general family history talks and members projects evening. We also have two outings a year to places of local interest. Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

Additional information about the society

The society publishes a magazine four times a year, to which members are encouraged to contribute articles, research and other items of interest. We also exchange journals with societies in England and overseas. Our publications are now all on CD and we are in the process of updating purchase details on our website.
