Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Family History Society which exists to encourage the study of family history within the old counties of Cambridgeshire the Isle of Ely, and from January 2020, Huntingdonshire.

Founded in 1976, the renamed Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Family History Society exists to encourage the study of family history within the old counties of Cambridgeshire the Isle of Ely, and from January 2020, Huntingdonshire.

It not only provides a friendly point of contact for people worldwide who are interested in the same surnames and families, but also offers a wide range of facilities to support their researches into genealogy and the local area. It has a membership of approximately 1800.

The Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Family History Society have contributed to our collection of vital records for Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire, including records of baptisms, marriages, banns and burials.

If you had an ancestor who was given authorisation to open and run a licensed premises in Cambridgeshire, then you may find them in this collection of Licensed Victuallers records that we have been able to bring to you in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Family History Society and the Family History Federation.

Additional information

The society holds regular meetings in Cambridge City, Cambridge Girton and March where members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, and meet like minded people. The quarterly journal, The Cambs FHS Journal, enables members at home and further afield to enjoy general articles on family and local history, general genealogical information, events and activities of the society, and an opportunity to publish personal family history interests.
