Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland)

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Archives and Records Association (ARA) for the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland) is the membership body for those who work in archives and for those in record keeping or conservation roles. ARA members also include those who own archives and all who use and care about them.

ARA delivers training, development and networking opportunities to its members and advocates widely for and about the sector.

National School Admission Registers

The ARA took a coordination role in the groundbreaking project to bring together archives and schools who had Schools Admissions Registers and then worked with Findmypast to deliver a new, national resource for family and education history.

This rich collection helps you to discover your ancestors who went to school in England and Wales between 1870 and 1914. You may uncover your ancestor's birth date, admission year and the school they attended. You may also be able to discover their parents’ names, father’s occupation, exam results and any illnesses that led to absence from school.
