Search Jersey, 1815 Militia Survey

Following France’s declaration of war in 1793 against England, Jersey’s local militia became the prime defensive force. A muster was immediately called for following General George Don’s appointment as Jersey’s lieutenant governor in 1806. The muster recorded all of Jersey’s men who were qualified for service in the militia. A muster was again conducted in 1815. Ngaire Ockwell of Otago, New Zealand, indexed the muster in 1991.

All 12 parishes are included in this set, listed as follows: Grouville, La Trinite, St Brelade, St Clement, St Helier, St John, St Lawrence, St Martin, St Mary, St Ouen, St Peter, and St Saviour.
