The Lives the First War website was a partnership between Findmypast and the Imperial War Museum to commemorate the men and women who made a contribution or sacrifice to Britain’s First World War effort in recognition of the 100 year anniversary.

The Imperial War Museum used records such as Medal Index Cards to identify individuals to be included in the digital project, members of the public then had the ability to add to these life stories to make them as accurate and complete as possible.

Lives of the First World War stories include official sources such as military and family history records, external references, publications, and original images.
