This index of St Lawrence inhabitants is the sole surviving parish list from the census substitute created on 9 April 1788, which provided the names and ages of all the inhabitants of Jersey. The original was compiled for the purpose of reporting to the English Parliament on Jersey inhabitants in accordance with the Act of the States of Jersey, April 1788.
There are just under 1,600 names recorded in the St Lawrence list. From each transcript, you will discover all or some of the following details:
