Cardiganshire Family History Society

The Cardiganshire Family History Society/Cymdeithas Hanes Teuluoedd Ceredigion was formed in 1995 to encourage the study of genealogy and family history in the historic county of Cardiganshire by people who have family connections with the county, no matter where they may now live. The society also welcomes those living within the county who have no Cardiganshire ancestry but are interested in family history generally.

The society meets in Aberystwyth on the 4th Tuesday of each month from September to June. The AGM is held in March and the June meeting always takes the form of a visit to a local place of interest followed by a meal. Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

The society publishes a journal three times a year. The contents include reports of meetings and lists of members' interests. Members themselves are also encouraged to contribute articles. The society undertakes projects such as transcribing parish registers and monumental inscriptions throughout the year and these are published in print and microfiche form.

The society has an ever-expanding library of books and booklets relating to research throughout the UK. We also exchange journals with societies in Wales and England as well as overseas all of which can be consulted at the Ceredigion Archive, Marine Terrace, Aberystwyth. In addition, we benefit from close links with The National Library of Wales and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.

Ceredigion Family History Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and the Association of Family History Societies of Wales. For more information please visit the society's website.
